Dr. Yinong Chong demonstrates this Yang Tai Chi Short 24 Form 楊氏太极拳二十四式. Sometimes called the Beijing style, it is designed specifically for Qigong (Chi Kung) and health cultivation based on the original, long Yang form. Compare the movements in this form to the original Chen Tai Chi form 陈氏太极拳.

This form is also called the Beijing 24 Posture Form of Taijiquan. It's excellent for beginners and for seniors, especially balance.

Despite the differences between the styles, you can still clearly see Peng, Lu, Ji and An, which are also called the four major directions (四正手) in Taijiquan. They are often translated as Push, Rollback, Wardoff and Press, but this translation obscures their original meaning. The 4 Direction energies are the Jiben Gong 基本功 (Basic training) for the all styles of Taijiquan (太极拳).

Other forms of Tai Chi such and Yang Tai Chi, Wu Tai Chi, Hao Tai Chi, Sun Tai Chi derive from Chen Tai Chi Chuan. Tai Chi is a martial art which is based on Qigong principles so it is often used for health well-being. Some schools of Tai Chi Chuan still retains its martial applications and movements as well as powerful internal cultivation methods. TCCII still preserves the original martial forms of Taijiquan.
